The Panther was Germanys most successful tank design of the war and owed a lot to the Russian T34 of which it was in many essentials a copy. It featured thick and well sloped armour and mounted the very powerful 7. 5cm L 70 gun. It certainly out classed anything in the British and American inventories in 1944.
