From 1977 to 2000 he worked with a range of distinguished artists including Brett Whiteley, Charles Blackman, Tim Storrier, David and Arthur Boyd. In 1989, he had his first solo exhibition of paintings and monotypes. Chair is a strangely beguiling image. It is gestural and abstract, rough to the touch yet liquid to the eye. In the dance of Whitingtons marks are infinite allusions: jellyfish; lights;
